Jesus is the only way for those who experience gender beyond God’s original design.
A special message from staff member, Joshua Kaina.
While many of us, including myself, applaud President Donald Trump’s executive order regarding gender, I feel a deep prompting to pray for those who may feel vulnerable. We must also keep our President in prayer as he makes tough, yet necessary decisions.
On this side of my journey through sanctification, I am in full agreement with and obedience to God’s design. Yet, I cannot forget what it felt like to be a confused teenager and young adult, lost and searching for identity. My testimony is here if you haven't seen it yet.
It is undeniable that the culture of America has grown increasingly perverse and sinful. The LGBTQ+ movement has deeply influenced schools, churches, and even impacted parental rights. Indeed, it has gotten out of hand, often creating tension and confusion. We needed leaders to take a firm stand on the truth: God created us male and female (Genesis 1:27).
However, as we reflect on this truth, let us remember Jesus' words in Matthew 24:12-13:
"Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of many will grow cold, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved."
Do Not Let Your Love Grow Cold
As God’s truth cuts through the culture like a double-edged sword, we can expect those in the LGBTQ+ community and others who feel marginalized to respond with anger, defensiveness, or despair. Some of these individuals may be our own family members, students, congregants, or friends. Are we prepared to meet their emotions with the spirit of Christ—marked by gentleness, patience, and love?
The Holy Spirit produces fruit in us, as described in Galatians 5:22-23:
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control."
In contrast, works of the flesh—pride, anger, or arrogance—can push people further from the truth. The question is: will we display the fruit of the Spirit in our words and actions, or will we let the flesh dictate our responses?
See the Individual, as God Does
The LGBTQ+ community often identifies itself as one collective group, but God sees each person as an individual. He knows their hearts, their pain, and their struggles. And so must we. Let us not harden our hearts, become haughty, or grow cold. Instead, we must root ourselves so deeply in Christ that our presence, friendship, and love point them to Him.
It is not legislation, psychology, or theology alone that will transform hearts—it is the love of Jesus Christ. As Romans 2:4 reminds us:
"God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance."
The goal is not just conformity to God’s design but a relationship with Him that brings life, freedom, and healing.
As Christians, we are called to embody truth and grace. Stand firmly on God’s design for creation, but do so with a heart of compassion and humility. Pray fervently for those who feel lost or marginalized. And let the love of Christ—manifested through His followers—be the light that draws them toward Him.
When truth is spoken without love, it becomes a clanging cymbal (1 Corinthians 13:1). But when truth is wrapped in the love of Christ, it can pierce even the hardest heart and draw people into His transforming embrace.
Let us reflect Jesus in every encounter, recognizing that each person we meet is someone He died to save.
